Salt Dough Hand Prints!
I first saw salt dough when one of my students made his visual project out of salt dough. It was a visual representation of a battle field-it was huge and heavy, but as solid as a rock. Since then I haven't really thought about it. That is until Pinterest brought it back up again!
I 'repinned' this idea from Parenterest for salt dough crafts. The recipe is 1 cup salt, 1 cup flour, and half a cup of water. I halved the recipe because my kiddos are babies and we really didn't need that much to make hand prints. So we did half a cup of salt and flour and about a fourth a cup of water. I think I added a bit more water because the dough just seemed so dry. Now that the hand prints are already done I think next time we will add less water. It took them forever to dry!!
These hand prints are going to my MIL as a late birthday present. I plan on making hand and foot prints of both the girls for our home. I want to make some every year until they get so big that they think it is obnoxious-luckily, I think that time is far far away!
Obviously their hand prints are not a true representation of their hands so we will have to work on that, but I still think it is cute!

2 Weeks for Zoey!
Here are Zoey's 2 week stats...
Weight: 7lbs 8 ozs; 25th percentile
Heights: 20 and a half inches; 60th percentile
Head: 17th percentile
Now let's compare that to Ellie at 2 weeks; Eleanore was in the 95th percentile for everything...even her head. Zoey is so much smaller compared to her I wonder how she will be as she continues to grow. Will I have two completely different children? Zoey already looks different-no red hair, so much smaller, no monkey ears lol, but she does have the same mouth and nose.
We shall have to see.
I can't wait!

Zoey is here!
Zoey Grey Davidson was born June 28th, 2012; 6 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long! She is incredible, already a good sleeper, takes her formula like a champ, smiles and laughs in her sleep!
Her big sister is doing as well as expected. A bit jealous that she doesn't get as much mommy time as she is used to, but I think she will adjust pretty quickly. Ellie gives Zoey kisses and tries to give her the bottle and pacifier-she also watches over her as we change her or hold her.
Zoey has her 2 week check up on Thursday so I'll give updated stats then or this weekend. I assume my posts will drop off even more now since being a mom of two little ones is pretty complicated/busy.
Two under 2...game on.

Soon...
Zoey will be here in 3 days. THREE DAYS.
Really?!?!!?
Thursday can not come soon enough....or I can wait. I'm not sure what I feel. I'm excited to meet her, but I'm not excited about the lack of sleep. I cannot wait to see how Ellie reacts to her or to see these two little girls grow up with each other. I'm so worried that Ellie will feel neglected or that she won't take to Zoey very well.
Very mixed emotions.
I probably won't update this until after Zoey is born so check my facebook for updates. Or my husbands-he'll be better at it for the first couple of days.
EEK!

Refusing Naps
Eleanore is in her room at this exact moment talking and whining away to who knows which stuffed animal she has chosen to converse with. She woke up around 7:15 and it is now 12:27. Normally children at this age need a nap after being awake 5 or so hours, so why is my daughter refusing to take a nap? I HAVE NO IDEA!
My 37 week appointment was yesterday AND we scheduled an induction date :) So little ZoZo will be here by the 28th, if not sooner! It will certainly be interesting to see how Ellie reacts to this new little baby. She loves seeing babies on TV but who knows if she will like having a baby sister around ALL the time.
P.S. We have mice in our yard...probably in our garage too. I think we've stopped them from being in the house, but we still need to manage the yard. I really REALLY would love to get a riding lawn mower for Jeff so he can do the backyard. It is a mess back there, but he refuses to mow it because it takes forever. Ugh.

No more stitches!
Eleanore got her stitches taken out today. I am so glad that they are out because she was a pain in the butt to fight everyday trying to clean them, put on Polysporin, and then a band aid. Ellie apparently inherited Jeff's allergy to adhesive/latex so she breaks out in rashes with regular band aids. It was a bit of a battle at the beginning to even take the band aids off of her she hated to be touched!! No worries anymore!
The biopsy on her cyst came back normal. I didn't ever think it was going to come back as anything weird like cancer or something like that, but good news is still good news.
Other happenings:
Eleanore HATES to take naps now. Since she gets to sleep in a bit (since I obviously don't teach in the summer) she never wants to take a nap; this leads to a VERY crabby kiddo at the end of the night. I've taken it upon myself to institute "quiet time". If she doesn't fall asleep that is fine, but she has to lay down for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon. She gets pretty upset at first, but then she eventually calms down and starts quietly playing with whatever toys/books happen to be in the crib. I think it helps her relax and it gives me time to sweep the floor or contemplate how many things I have to do still before Zoey is born. I figure Ellie gets PLENTY of interaction, activity, and craziness that 1 hour a day of relaxing won't hurt her...and 8 times out of 10 she'll fall asleep during one of those times. If she happens to fall asleep in the morning I generally don't do quiet time in the afternoon because she doesn't need it.
Anyone have any tips on how to get an emerging toddler to nap?
Everything with Zoey is going swimmingly. I'm dilated to a full 1-which generally means nothing, but I'm hopeful that I'll go into labor naturally this time and that it will be soon! In reality, however, women can walk around dilated up to 3cm for weeks before delivery...let's hope that I give birth before July 4th-I really want her to be born in June!! (don't ask why, they are for completely selfish reasons and it makes me sound like a terrible person).

6 weeks to go...
I can't believe that little Zoey Grey will be here in about a month. I'm really betting on the fact that she will come early. I plan on doing everything I can to get her to want to come out at the end of June. There are lots of reasons behind this...
1. I'm tired of being pregnant.
2. We already have 4 birthdays in July, 1 anniversary, the 4th of July and I don't feel like going broke in one month.
3. June seems like a really good month to be born, I mean why not?!?!
4. I'll get more time with Zoey before I have to go back to work
I've officially hit nesting mode which directly disobeys my doctor's orders of REST when you are at home. It is impossible. I do have to stop often and sit down, but it really is impossible to sit there and do nothing ALL DAY LONG. I feel terrible for people who are on strict bed rest. God bless you people.
Eleanore is growing like a weed. She has tried a lot of new food lately-liked most fruit and veggies, but still not a big fan of meat. She drinks milk by the gallon. Hates juice. She is starting to talk a lot more as well. She has mama, dadda, puppy, 'pease', shhh, and 'cheeeeeeeeeeeeeese' down and she knows a lot more than that, but the words aren't coming out too well. She is a great helper around the house too-knows where to put her toys, picks things up for me, puts her diapers in the trash, and is willing to put things away in the fridge. I really think we got lucky with this kiddo...Plus she is as cute as a button. Love that girl.
I'm making homemade fruit leather right now-it takes 6-8 hours, but I'll let you know how that turns out!

Tired
Zoey Grey is the most uncooperative unborn baby ever. She has punched, kicked, and rolled all over the place today in the most uncomfortable of ways. I wouldn't be surprised if I was all bruised up on the inside.
It also makes it impossible to sleep.
I'm tired.
14 more schools days: 5 days of actual teaching....3 days of review...4 days of finals...1 day of community service...1 day of freedom/work day (since students will be at Hawaiian Falls) and then I'm done. I hope Zoey can just chill for these days at work; she is always chill on the weekends.

9 weeks left...
31 week appointment went well I suppose so here is the short of it:
-I've only gained 22 pounds, which means I'm on target to only gain about 30 this time around which is so much better than the 42 pounds I gained with Ellie!
-I am already experiencing contractions. The doctor said I need to slow down when I have them otherwise I'll put myself in to labor.
-Zoey Grey is laying sideways and it is REALLY annoying and uncomfortable
Eleanore has her 15 month check up tomorrow so I'll update you on all of her stats to then.
In other news:
-School is dragging and I find myself getting irritated with my students
-I'm SEVERELY anemic
-I'm tired, oh so tired
-I witnessed first hand yesterday what I DON'T want my daughter to act like
So that's about it. Hopefully the last 4 weeks of school will go by quickly and the last 9 weeks of pregnancy will go smoothly. Praying that Zoey doesn't want to make an appearance too early!

Teeth, Sick Eleanore, Hard tummy
A few updates
Teeth: Apparently I have the worst teeth ever. (not really) I grind my teeth. Anyone who knows me, knows that this happens at night...every night...probably since the first day I had any teeth. I also clench my jaw-this is due to stress and habit. Those two things combined have lead to me slowly destroying my teeth. I break through any fillings which leads to cavities and then root canals. I had my first root canal today. It went well. Then Novocaine wore off. HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS! I still have more work to be done because I also have prophylaxis and a few other fillings to go but after that I get to have a fancy schmancy mouth guard to sleep in.
Sick baby girl: Eleanore is running a fever, for which seems like the 100th time this year. I know that babies get sick easily and they run fevers easily but I mean come on! It is like once the poor child is back to normal, back to eating, and starting to gain weight she just gets sick again. I hate seeing her like this. I hate that she refuses to eat. She is such a tiny little girl to begin with because she is on the tall side. I hope this passes soon.
Hard tummy: Towards the end of my pregnancy with Eleanore my belly started feeling extremely hard and uncomfortable. I would notice that Ellie would prefer one side over the other and just sit there like a freaking hard rock. It was uncomfortable. I'm starting to notice that with Zoey. It is annoying and I'm definitely feeling it a lot earlier this time around so I wonder what that means. I've also had a lot of back pain and restless leg syndrome-I can't begin to describe how annoying that is.
Well the hard tummy, tooth achy momma to a sick girl is off to bed herself. I'm praying that Eleanore will have a good night's rest, she sure needs it.

Random Thursday Mini-Rant
Talk about 1st world problems...
I had a student today who told me that they didn't have their homework assignment. They forgot it at home. In reality, no big deal this happens all the time the student will receive a late grade as per school policy...the end.
Her mother emails me this afternoon...
"I'm sorry (my daughter) didn't turn in her homework this afternoon. Our maid must have thrown it away when she was de-cluttering our counter space. I'm sure these things happen all the time."
Oh of course...I mean when my maid walks in to my million dollar home I make sure to tell her not to de-clutter my expansive counter space. Silly maids.

Texas Blue Bonnets
I don't really 'get' the whole Blue Bonnet deal, but apparently in Texas it is a HUGE deal. Every year around this time, for about 2 weeks, random blue bonnets sprout up in fields across Texas. Soooo everyone goes crazy and starts putting their children out in these fields to take pictures. I didn't understand, until I saw this...
My boss took the pictures because she owns about 4 acres of land and really just wanted someone to take pictures of. We should be getting more once she has edited them all, but I just wanted to give a preview.

25 Weeks
Quick update:
Gained a bit of weight this time around, but overall I've gained less than I did with Ellie when we look at the same timeline. It's just I didn't gain any weight for so long that I made quite a jump!
We find out April 9th if the placenta has moved or not.
Other news...
Eleanore had an allergic reaction (we think) to sunscreen which is REALLY terrible because with her fair skin she just won't survive in the sun. We'll have to do some research.
We finally joined the rest of the world in getting a flat screen TV. We are late by like 8 years, but who cares we have a pretty TV now :)
The End.

Pictures from my phone

Always on the move, she is so hard to photograph these days!

Helping my mom push the cart at WalMart....and yeah that's my skinny mini mom...how freakin amazing does she look?!?! She has lost SO much weight since being diagnosed with diabetes (she has the kind that isn't caused by diet or being fat, it is genetic). I believe she wears the same size pants I do now, maybe smaller since I'm preggo and all!

Thought this looked fun
I've seen this little survey on other preggo people's blogs and decided it look neat and it is an easy way to update ppl really quickly!
How far along? 23 weeks
How far along? 23 weeks
Total weight gain: as of my last appointment it was 2 pounds (I was super sick over Christmas and have been having tummy issues lately) I think by now I've probably gained at least 8-10.
Maternity clothes? Oh my goodness yeah. I may have not gained a ton of weight, but I started showing WAY earlier this pregnancy and the bump is definitely bigger at this stage compared to the 1st pregnancy as well.
Stretch marks? Only from the 1st one-no new ones!
Sleep: What is sleep? I have a teething 13 month old and I work full time...sleep is a hit or miss. I should say that I can fall asleep real easily it's the staying asleep for a full night that is hard.
Best moment this week: Seeing my parents and grandparents for a few days and seeing how Ellie interacts with them
Miss anything? Sometimes I REALLY want a margarita!
Movement: Zoey seems to be more of a roller than a kicker. Ellie was the opposite.
Food cravings: Nothing particular...just food in general
Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing out of the ordinary
Gender: Of course you already know it is a girl
Labor signs: No thank God!
Symptoms: DRY SKIN...ugh! I've always had oily skin/hair and since having Ellie and now with this pregnancy my skin has just swung in the completely opposite direction. Chest is definitely bigger which makes Jeff happy, but it is hard to get used to looking in the mirror.
Belly button in or out? In! It stayed in with Ellie the whole time
Wedding rings on or off? On, I'm a lot less swollen/chunky this time...just a whole lot of belly
Happy or moody most of the time: right now I'm sick, but I was say happy. (side note: although I say happy, I would say that I'm more moody this time around because Jeff and I have so much more on our plate)
Looking forward to: Painting some pictures for the girls' room. Convincing Jeff to let me redo the nursery. My 26th week ultrasound so we can see if the placenta moved yet

Another family member moves away...
This week is the last week I will have a family member who lives within a 500 mile radius from me. Sad day. Andrew moves on Thursday to go start a new life up by my parents and I cannot tell you how depressed that makes me.
I want to live by my family.
I want to go shopping with my mom on the weekends.
I want to go to the church where my dad is the pastor.
I don't want to be the only one missing out on birthday parties, weekend get-a ways, random get togethers and other things that now EVERYONE is a part of...sigh.
I know that I should suck it up. People live apart from their families ALL THE TIME, but if I don't have to live far away then why should I? The only thing holding me here is Jeff. He isn't sure that moving is a good thing. He thinks we should stay a few years for reasons which I choose not to share with the internet. He is my husband so I trust in his judgement, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it and it certainly doesn't mean that I have to be happy living so far away.
The good thing that comes out of this...I get to see my mom and dad and grandparents next week as they are all coming down to help Drew move. Hurray! Counting my blessings where I can.

Nothing exciting
Nothing exciting is going on here.
Eleanore is starting to fight nap time and night time as well. She is getting another tooth at the bottom.
Smash is a good TV show...go watch the first 3 episodes on Hulu.
Zoey (baby #2) is doing well. 2 weeks until the next doctor's appointment and about 5 weeks until we know if I'll have to have a c-section or not.

20 week mini update
Today is the 20th week of my pregnancy. Nothing has changed since I updated last week about the gender reveal. I have only gained 2 pounds since the start of my pregnancy so I feel like I'm WAY smaller than I was with Ellie, but who is complaining.
The doctor (who I actually got to see today) explained more about the placenta being too close to the cervix and yadda yadda. I was put on 'pelvic rest' so I can get any checkups (in the lady department) and there can be no uhhh...extracurricular activity. That is to remain for the rest of my pregnancy OR until I get the next ultrasound around 26 weeks and they tell me everything is fine. If the placenta hasn't moved by 26 weeks then they are going to schedule a c-section around week 36 or 37 to avoid any chance of me going into labor. If I did go into labor I would start hemorrhaging and put myself and the baby in danger-no one wants that. I also have to call immediately if I have any bleeding, that means even if I have slight spotting I need to call. Craziness. HOWEVER...after all that is said the doctor told me it is highly likely that the placenta will move and it is only a slight chance of it not moving, so we are still praying that it moves.
Eleanore has some sort of pimple like rash on her face and she was running a fever the past few days. Unfortunately, that affected her eating habits again so I'm fearing she isn't gaining as much weight as she needs to. As of yesterday she started eating like a normal person again, there is no fever, but she still has that unsightly rash...poor baby. The nurse said it could be a reaction to her vaccinations. I say if it doesn't clear up by the weekend I'm taking her in to see someone.
Other than that she has started throwing these tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. Can I tell you how hilarious I find them? Instead of getting angry or frustrated with her I just laugh because truly what else can you do with a 1 year old? I think laughing at her also throws her off because sometimes we can get her out of those fits in 10 seconds and she starts laughing too. I'm sure it will eventually get on our nerves once she starts talking and doing it in the middle of the grocery store but for now...HILARIOUS!
I finally have cravings, I didn't have them with Ellie bean but I do now. Current craving: chicken Caesar salad.
Zoey Grey
IT'S A GIRL!!!
Jeff and I went to the ultrasound yesterday morning and found out that we are going to have another little girl. I can't believe I'll have two daughters. My mom quickly reminded me about something I said when I was younger : "I don't even think I want kids, and if I do have kids I definitely want ALL boys." HAHAHAHA I really should watch what I say. In the short run it will be more economical because we have TONS of hand-me-downs, but now we'll have to pay for two weddings amongst all the other things....like 2 colleges, phones, cars, health care, clothes, dates...AGH! Jeff seemed a bit disappointed at first, I think he really wanted a boy but he is happy nonetheless...for a guy who was told that he may never have kids I'm sure he's super excited that he'll now have 2.
The ultrasound itself went fairly well. The baby is measuring a bit small so I'm a bit nervous that they might want to move my due date which means I'd have to take some time off work (let's face it I won't go back to work 3-4 weeks after giving birth that is ridiculous). I won't know about moving the date until I see the actual doctor on Thursday so I really really hope they keep the date the same.
There was one thing that is now going to worry me for the rest of this pregnancy or at least until I get the next ultrasound. My placenta is super close to the cervix which is called placenta previa (google it). If it doesn't move towards the end of this pregnancy then I will have to have a C-section and that is something I am simply terrified of. Not that it will hurt or anything, but the recovery is longer and it is more expensive and I liked the immediate gratification of holding my daughter and being able to regain normal function quickly. I'm praying that it moves. On the bright side though, that means I get another ultrasound (I only had 2 with Ellie) so I'll get to see the baby when it is a bit bigger!
Jeff posted some ultrasound pictures on his Facebook so you can check more out there. He spells Zoey with two Os like Zooey, but I don't know if I like it that way so the spelling is still up in the air for now.

P.S. I REALLY want some Marble Slab ice cream....almost enough to wake up Ellie and drive to Plano to get some.
